this past weekend i did my very first wedding!  it was exciting and exhausting and it turned out positively beautiful!  a close friend of mine asked me in february if i would make cupcakes for her wedding this fall.  of course i was honored and excited.  i spent the last few months planning and practicing to make it just right and i think the final product speaks for itself.  it was everything i had hoped it would turn into.  and i'm excited for future projects.

i used a prefab cupcake stand that i spray painted brown and added a gold ribbon around the edges.  i wrapped some gold, sparkle mesh around the center to add some drama.  all the flowers are fondant and in a future post i'll have tutorials for making each one.

the giant cupcake on top is chocolate chocolate chunk cupcake with a chocolate candy cup.  the frosting is cream cheese frosting.  and don't worry my secret for that will be revealed in a future post as well.  I think the giant flower was the perfect touch to dress it up.

there are red velvet, chocolate chocolate chunk and salted caramel cupcakes overfilling the stand.  each cupcake has a flower, color coded to indicate the flavor of the cupcakes for guests.  I had my sweet husband whip up this little sign to help everyone decode the flowers.

everyone seemed to enjoy the cupcakes and we only had a few left over at the end of the night.  the best part about cupcakes for a wedding is that guests felt free to have more than one and it was easy, serve  yourself.  no one cutting and serving cake all night.  it was exciting to see people excited about my cupcakes, especially people who don't know me and were just excited to try one because they looked so good.
